The one thing that stood out to me from this week's reading one was importance of front loading. Knowledge and the process to obtain knowledge is essential. Knowledge and Comprehension go hand in hand. Honestly, there were many ideas in these first chapters that struck a match for me- that really broadened my appreciation for reading itself. It will be interesting to see how I can utilize these ideas in my own classroom.
Awesome! I'll have to try frontloading THIS class!
ReplyDeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteFrontloading was the BIG thing that jumped out at me as well. It totally makes sense to the success of understanding what we are about to read. I also think the time invested in frontloading has potential to draw at least a few (hopefully more) of the non-interested readers into the reading process.

ReplyDeleteSorry these posted double, or maybe triple. It gave me an error, so I tried again and then later showed up?
DeleteThat is just fine- I actually felt really awesome and super COOL when I saw I had "6 comments"! Then I realized your post had in fact posted a few times. Haha.
DeleteTerrill, what you are experiencing is a slow server, either from your hosting site or even Google. Post once, if you get an error, go and look to see if it posted anyway. This does happen to me on Wordpress sites, but I haven't seen this on Blogger before. Probably because I use Chrome, a Google product.
ReplyDeleteI feel many teachers use frontloading for many subjects. I believe it is similar to he "hook" we use in our lesson plans.
ReplyDeleteFront loading is an essential part to making sure that the students are going to understand everything that is about to be thrown at them.
