Thanksgiving week and Observations

Our family's Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing- I hope everyone's was as well. Last week I also wrapped up my observation hours. The week prior I taught my observation lesson to the 5th grade class I have been in and I felt really confident on how it went. I taught them some new"wish" concepts: Conjunctions, Interjections, and Prepositions. They were truly responsive and a great group of students to work with. The teacher I am observing is an awesome educator and you can just tell by watching her interact with her students that she truly LOVES HER JOB. She relates to her students and goes above and beyond to teach self efficacy in her class and most importantly- a love for reading. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside her.
I will be honest- I have yet to wrap up the activity from the lesson last week. That is on my list for tomorrow. The last four days have been filled with family, food, family photos, a wedding, and caring for our 3 year old with Croup. I know I mentioned it in my last post but I as SO READY for winter break.

  1. Amen to the break sister! It sounds as though your observations were a success for you. I deliver my lesson plan in front of Ann tomorrow and am feeling pretty confident...we will see what happens. Nice post

  2. So glad your family time was awesome. Also congrats on a lesson plan and successful delivery. I too am running behind and wondering where the days and hours have gone. LIFE has been happening...Whew! See you in class.

  3. The day after Thanksgiving my house was hit with flu...we fully recovered Monday evening. I spend the bulk of my last three days of break..cleaning and reading.
We did have family pictures come back to us from a shoot a week prior.
I have done 3 or 10 lesson plans, taught my lesson and will wrap up my hours this Friday.
I am not sure I will do 3 classes in one semester again. I am overwhelmed with all that is left and my son leaving on the 14th.
We are doing family Christmas this Friday.
I actually wrote Dr. Steffes and said I am learning just as much about balance and time management as I am about all the other aspects of teaching.
I too am ready for break, I just wish that at the end of the tunnel my family would all be here but my son will be at boot camp.
I LOVE 5th grade and LWJE. I can't wait to hear about your lesson tonight.
